Our Story

Built by someone who's been exactly where you are

NetNav wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born from years of watching small businesses drown in advice they couldn't act on.

Where it started

I was the entire marketing department.

One person. One laptop. Responsible for everything — the website, the SEO, the social media, the Google Ads, the email campaigns, the analytics. All of it. No team. No agency. No budget to speak of.

I'd run an audit and get back 47 errors I didn't understand. I'd read a "complete guide" that left me more confused than when I started. I'd watch a competitor climb the rankings and have absolutely no idea what they were doing differently.

Every tool I tried was either built for agencies with 50 clients, or so simplified it was useless. The advice was always the same: "just create great content" or "improve your site speed." Thanks. How? With what? In which order? And which of the 200 things I could be doing would actually move the needle for my business?

I didn't need more information. I needed someone to look at my specific situation and say: start here, do this, ignore that.

What I learned

Then I saw it from the other side.

Years later, I found myself running digital marketing at enterprise scale. Big budgets. Big teams. Every tool you could dream of. And you know what I realised?

The fundamentals were exactly the same. The things that actually moved the needle for a five-person accounting firm were the same things that mattered for a company with thousands of employees. Title tags. Page speed. Local visibility. Content that answers real questions. The difference wasn't knowledge — it was having the time, the tools, and someone to cut through the noise.

Enterprise teams had all of that. Small businesses had none of it.

And that gap — between what small businesses need and what's actually available to them — that's what kept nagging at me. Because I'd been on both sides. I knew the playbook worked. I just watched it being gatekept behind enterprise budgets and agency retainers.

Same game. Completely different rules.

The gap isn't about capability. It's about access.

Enterprise

Resources

Dedicated SEO team. £10k/month tooling budget. Agency on retainer. Quarterly strategy reviews. Custom dashboards. Someone whose entire job is to care about page speed.

Micro Business

Resources

You. Maybe one other person. A free trial of something you'll cancel. A blog post from 2019. Thirty browser tabs open. A nagging feeling you're missing something important.

Enterprise

Result

Clear priorities. Measurable progress. Confidence that every hour spent on marketing is spent on the right thing.

Micro Business

Result

Guesswork. Wasted effort. The sinking feeling that competitors are doing something you're not — but no way to find out what.

Why NetNav exists

So I built the thing I wish I'd had.

Not another SEO tool. Not another audit that dumps 200 issues on you with no context. Not another "complete guide" that takes three hours to read and leaves you with a to-do list longer than when you started.

NetNav looks at your actual website, your actual business, your actual situation — and tells you exactly what to do, in what order, and why it matters. The same strategic thinking that enterprise teams pay thousands for, made accessible to the people who need it most.

It prioritises by impact. It explains in plain language. It gives you a real plan you can actually follow, starting with the things that'll make the biggest difference in the least amount of time.

And when something's too technical or you'd rather not do it yourself? It helps you find someone who can — with your full scan data, so they know exactly what needs doing. No guesswork. No inflated quotes.

What drives us

A few things we believe to be true.

Small businesses shouldn't need to become SEO experts. You started your business because you're brilliant at what you do — not because you wanted to learn about canonical tags and Core Web Vitals. You shouldn't have to.

Advice without context is noise. "Improve your page speed" means nothing if you don't know how, or whether it's even your biggest problem. Everything NetNav recommends is specific to your site, ranked by what'll actually help.

Done is better than perfect. We'd rather you complete three high-impact tasks this week than spend a month planning the perfect content strategy. Progress compounds. Perfectionism stalls.

You deserve the same quality of insight as everyone else. The size of your team shouldn't determine the quality of your strategy. That's not how it should work. That's what we're here to change.

How we build NetNav

01

Show, don't lecture

We show you your data, your issues, your opportunities. Not theory. Not "best practices." Your actual situation, with a clear path forward.

02

Rank everything by impact

Life's too short to fix things that don't matter. Every recommendation is ranked by how much it'll move the needle for your business, not by how easy it is for us to detect.

03

Speak human

If we can't explain it in plain language, we haven't understood it well enough. Jargon is a crutch. Clarity is a craft.

04

Respect your time

You have a business to run. We'll never waste your time with vanity metrics, unnecessary complexity, or features that exist to look impressive rather than be useful.

05

Be honest about what we don't know

SEO isn't magic. Results take time. Some things are uncertain. We'll always tell you what we're confident about and what's our best assessment. No snake oil. Ever.

See what your website actually needs.

No jargon. No overwhelm. Just a clear picture of where you are and exactly where to start.

Takes 30 seconds. No card required.
